PROJECT 1
GEOMETRY AND FORM:
ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN ELEMENTS & PRINCIPLES
[TATTOOS & MODELS]
For this project, we are assigned into a group of 8 where each students are assigned to design tattoo stamps and create the models based on the design principles and elements that were given. Each student needs to create 2 tattoo stamps and 2 models. They can choose 1 elements and 1 principles for each design. The students will then compile each of their works on a presentation slideshow which all of them will then present individually as a group.
The objectives of this project are:
For students to be able to explore different approaches in creating new ideas through rigorous design processes
To be able to discover different ways in expressing their ideas through model making
To be able to translate 2D ideas into 3D model making design
TATTOO STAMP 1 : LINE + HIERARCHY
This is the design of my 1st tattoo stamp and model which shows the design principles and elements of line and hierarchy. I used a combination of two different kind of lines which are parallel lines and radial lines to reflect the hierarchy on the model.
TATTOO STAMP 2 : SHAPE + SYMMETRY
This is the design of my 2nd tattoo stamp which follows the design principles and elements of shape and symmetry. The shape here can be seen by the combination of the usage of rectangles and triangles that can be seen to be balanced and mirrored every sides.
DESIGN SKETCH PROCESS JOURNAL
This is my design sketch process journal that contains my tattoo stamps tryout, the initial ideas, as well as my mock up models that had all gone through the process of trials and errors before deciding on my final outcome.
REFLECTION
For this project, I am glad that I was able gain more in depth knowledge about design elements and principles through the designing of the tattoo stamps and model making. I think that this project was a great introduction into what will be expected for project 2 and 3 I'm glad to be able to have fun with it when during the whole process.
During this whole process I was also able to gain 2 tgcs which are communication skills, and thinking and problem solving skills. I was able to improve my communication skills when I got to work together and discuss with my team members on topics we don't understand or just wanted feedbacks or suggestions on the tattoo stamps and models that we were making. I was glad that we were able to help each other out when any of us needed it which also helps a lot in improving our tattoo stamps and models. Next, I was also able to analyse a lot more for this project by coming up with a lot of initial tattoo ideas and go through a lot of trials and error process before deciding on a final design for my models. By doing this, it helped me to be more sure of the final design of the model that I wanted to make.
