PROJECT 2
STRUCTURE AND BODY:
MATERIALS, ANTHROPOMETRIC AND ERGONOMIC EXPLORATION
[ISOLATION STRUCTURE]
For the 2nd project, this is a continuation from project 1 where students are told to choose a model from the previous project to apply the same design principles and elements, and design a structure for self-isolation that shows our personal behaviour during the pandemic period. For this project, it is an individual work and is no longer a group work.
The objectives of this project are:
To be able to introduce and create anthropometry and ergonomics and relating it to form and space
To be able to introduce basic understanding of structure in general design principles and architectural terminologies on application to spatial and form configuration
To create and work on a structure installation and understand the materials, quality of space, human scale, and articulation form.
Design Process
Below are images of my design process. I started by choosing my model from my previous project that I wanted to implement for my project 2. I decided to choose line and hierarchy as my design principles and elements. Next, I started to measure myself based on the banal action that I've chosen which is sitting. After that, I try to do some mock up models to get a better idea of the final design that I wanted.
Final Project & Drawing
The images below are the result of my final model and drawings that I've created
REFLECTION
To be honest for this project, I was not satisfied of the outcome and I was disappointed in myself for not only not being able to finish it on time, but also having lots of wrong measurements for the model that I've created.
I was too caught up on changing and creating new designs that I didn't realised how much time that I wasted on it and by the time that I finally realised it, I was still busy doing the model and was not able to finish it completely.
It certainly wasn't one of my best work and I wished I could've done better but I'm glad that it happened. Because this teaches me to learn a lot from my mistakes so that I can know which area that I can improve in to become better in the future.
On the bright side, one of the tgcs that I was able to gain from this project is lifelong learning. Doing this project has helped me a lot in learning and gaining more information about designs more independently than project 1 before. I was able to learned a lot of new things that I didn't know about and was glad that I got to gained more knowledge in architecture design.
